'Merv the Merc' looked resplendent, as did Jono, Lulu, Alice, Brent and Charlie as they donned rubber gloves and aprons to cook up a storm at their 'Bunnings Narrabeen Sausage Sizzle'!

A beautiful autumn day ensured a great turn out of budding Home Improvement Specialists and Horticulturists! Also family and friends a plenty, not to mention the impromptu appearance of 3 fellow Spring 2019 SB/Cancer Council Rally participating teams, being 'The Heat is On' (Craig: Holden Rodeo), 'A Pom and a Kiwi' (Ray and Paul: Mercedes), and 'The People' (Jason and Brett: Ford Fairlane).

Thank you to every one who made the effort to come out and support The Shady Glens. You really helped make the day so very memorable.

A lot of fun was definitely had by all, with the end result being a total of $505 raised in support of the cause. (Being 211 sausage, 422 slices of bread, 64 soft drinks and some amazing donations, just because they could!)

With thanks to 'Devitt Meats' and 'Bakers Delight' for providing the ingredients, at such special prices, in support of the cause.

Jono and Charlie do want to say 'special thanks' to Lulu and Alice Papworth, who were not only up at crack of dawn making final preparations, but also served the many generous customers with such grace, humour and infectious smiles. In essence, on their feet for close to 8 hours, (okay, now and again resting on the Eskies, but even so!!).

Couldn't have done it without them!

'The Shady Glens' are next appearing at Bunnings Artarmon, this Sunday, May 5th, where their culinary efforts turn to baking, with caramel slices, vanilla slices and an assortment of scrolls available to match all appetites and peculiarities!
